Put on some sweats, some socks and now a blanket and I'm still shivering. Why does the damned AC make part of the house an icicle and the other part an oven? Why can't my computer be in the oven?

1. have you tried shutting the vents in the ice cube rooms?
we had the same problem - the thermostat is in the living room, so as soon as the temp in the living room is OK the AC turns off. But other rooms, especially upstairs, are still hot.
We shut all the vents in the living room, forcing the colder air into the upstairs and outlying rooms first. When it finally gets to the living room to trip the thermostat, the other rooms are cool.
