Positive or negative?

Positive (scanned 4x6" print that Ritz Camera had developed in July, note the day-glo cathedral):



Negative (scanned at 3200DPI but now resized to 96dpi screen res, minor color correction (no color correctness or increased saturation needed, the normal looking cathedral is proof of this), though adjusted contrast levels to tone down the smoke)

1. Point taken...

I went back into photoshop and increased the red level for midtones.

The blues and greens remained the same but the sky's horizon lit up in a red like the Ritz print. There was extra dimension to the smoke as well which is sweet. It really does look better with it. And if you look at the scanned neg, the purple flare on the right remained purple too (though the purple streaks are a bit brighter) and the red flares stayed red, without becoming orange.

As they stand, both are keepers... The scanned negative still brings out ALL the colors accurately. It's take less work to re-scan and optimize than fiddley-wink with the existing scanned prints, as I'd eventually have to re-scan them anyway.
