I have an odd obsession with Marilyn Manson...
There's something about him that is oddly deeply attractive about him--he's incredibly intelligent (his interview in "Bowling for Columbine" was very spot on) and thoughtful. His stage persona strikes me almost as a more grotesque, goth David Bowie. His music may not be for everyone, but I certainly think it's more creative and thoughtful than he'll ever be credited for.

But maybe this is just me.

6. He was interviewed on NPR and talked his childhood ...
he was sickly and in the hospital alot - hence his thing with medical devices and body restraints in his early videos. He also said he found his grandfather's porno stash, which included S&M and bestiality; I'm sure looking at that stuff as a kid will affect yah.

I like some of his music, but when I'm up for that genre, I do Alice Cooper.

2. I saw a video of him burning the american flag on stage
I thought, it would have been wild if he did that right after 9-11.

5. He seems pretty interesting.
He has a lot of good visual ideas. I don't care for the music that much. I get the feeling that he thinks he's more interesting than he is.

7. Me too!
My kids (29 and 22) get a kick out of the fact I'm such a fan since I'm so "old".

I would love to see him in concert.

8. Here's a great anti-Manson site ...
launches into just about every 'he's eeeeeeeeville!' cliche.

10. Why is it that fundies
have the SUCKIEST web design skills? Some of the text...egads!

But that was a hoot. He fell for Manson's schtick hook, line, and sinker. Even gets the "Manson caused school shootings and the tsunami and made my milk curdle in the fridge" melodrama the religious right majors in.

I do like his "The Dope Show" tune, it's quite an astute piece of social commentary.

But that site's a scream....

9. I didnt like his concert, but he's an interesting person
the one interview that sticks in my head, I think it was MTV in the mid-90's. He said that his music was about being different and expressing your individuality, and he couldnt stand when his fans all showed up to concerts dressed the same.

11. Pity about his utter lack of musical ability, though...

Also, he's not really that intelligent. It's just that he is smarter than one would assume and therefore benefits from diminished expectations.
