Man Wakes Up With Headache, Goes To Emergency Room, Discovers He's Been Shot In Head - Wife Arrested
<snip>

PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. - A woman was arrested Tuesday after her husband woke up in the middle of the night with a terrible headache and later learned he had a bullet lodged in his head.

St. Lucie County Sheriff's deputies initially thought Michael Eugene Moylan had been hit by a stray bullet, but later realized the couple's story did not match up, Sheriff Ken Mascara said.

April Moylan, 39, was arrested Tuesday and was in the process of being charged with attempted murder, Mascara said.

Moylan, 45, woke up at 4:30 a.m. and thought he had suffered an aneurism or that his wife had elbowed him in his sleep, authorities said.

His wife drove him to the hospital where doctors said a bullet had lodged behind his right ear. Authorities obtained a search warrant for the couple's home, located in an upscale gated community, and later arrested the wife, Mascara said.

2. Oh, but there's MORE....
The couple finally told authorities that April Moylan sleeps with a loaded .32-caliber revolver under her pillow. They said that when the burglar alarm sounded at about 4 a.m. Tuesday, she grabbed the gun and it accidentally discharged, shooting her husband in the head just behind his ear.

Mascara said the couple told authorities they couldn't simply call 911 because both are convicted felons and are not allowed to own a gun so they concocted the headache story.

April Moylan previously had been convicted of sale and delivery of cocaine in Palm Beach County, Mascara said. Her husband's criminal record was not immediately available.

He was recovering Wednesday at a hospital. His wound was not considered life-threatening, the sheriff's office said.

Both husband and wife have long criminal histories.

The husband's record lists more than two dozen arrests that occurred from 1988 to 2005, mostly on charges of drunken driving and related episodes, including probation violations and driving with a suspended license.

His wife's record includes 13 arrests from 1987 to 2005.

The arrests include allegations of multiple drug violations, including the selling of cocaine, car theft, failure to appear in court and DUI.
