yesterday, on my way to the Giants game in SF - two teachers discussing their classes - class curriculum, etc. when one of the teachers mentioned the "No Child Left Behind" program and how it was jeopardizing the actual act of teaching in the classroom and focusing only on testing. The other teacher interjected that it should be known as "No Teacher Left Standing".....
sad, but true.

4. My sister's been a teacher for 29 years |
|
The only time I ever heard her say "fuck" was when she was talking about W and NCLB.
Hey, where'd you sit? I may go July 22 for the Cubs. I've never been to AT&T, and I'd want to be somewhere around sec. 312 because it's near a smoking area, but I dunno what kinda view you get from up there.

16. Yeah, but I'm a smoker |

and the only smoking areas are off secs. 135, 229 and 314. Since I hate sitting on the third-base side, that leaves 314, but that's the upper deck.

11. My preferred name for NCLB is 'No Child Left Untested' |
|
that's about all it is, all it does, and all it's good for. In other words...it's nothing, it does nothing, and is good for nothing, just like W.

14. Pretty much. Our educational policy is written by buffoons who pay no attention to sociological |
|
research on education. You know, the kind of stuff that might REALLY benefit the kids. Year-round schooling would be an excellent start.

Those subjects have all been decimated to accomodate the Test Almighty.

20. Right. Because when Bush asks the question 'Is our children learning?' |
|
The answer is no. Our children no is learning. And it's thanks to Bush. Art, Music, and PE are all VITAL parts of education. Somehow they got it into their fat heads that the Test Almighty is the answer to all of our educational problems. Surprise! It isn't. It isn't even close. But keep fantasizing, morans...

One of my best friends is a teacher, and isn't happy about it at all.
The intent was good, the application, not so much.
