10th Anniversary is tin?! What can I get? I need ideas.
This is the first year I was contemplating purchasing a traditional anniversary gift for my wife for our anniversary since it's a nice round number, but tin?

Anyone have any good ideas?

Thanks in advance.

1. Foil.
Though, I suppose, most of that is aluminum nowadays.

8. If the spouse likes...
a very good idea. If not maybe he/she should. I can think of nothing made of the metal tin now. The cans are long gone and it was only plating then.

6. Tin ceiling tiles

You could paint them various colors and hang them on the wall.*

* for those of you who rolled your eyes, this was a decorating idea that ZenLeftyGirl had. Fortunately, we both have Veto power when it comes to the other's decorating ideas.

9. Find a cute "decorative" tin, and put something wonderful in it
Edited on Wed Jan-21-04 11:37 AM by SoCalDem
She can save the tin, or store stuff in it, and you can be traditional..:)

There are tins everywhere..

Or.. try your mall.. Most have a place that will actually seal something in a tincan.. She would have to use the can opener to get at what you put in it :)

19. Not worried about having to get a great gift in order to stay married.
Got a great marriage no matter what I get her and even if I get her nothing. We don't need to rely on gifts. :) Makes things nice and simple.

15. create a tin phone
using two open soup cans. Tie both cans together using a string that is laced through tiny holes drilled in the bottom of the cans. Then have her stand around a corner while you read her a tenth anniversary poem through her tin phone. Perhaps dinner as well. :~)

20. Get her a cool tin toy -- a wind-up, or whatever...
You could get an antique, or a current-issue. There are many, many types of tin toys out there -- animals, robots, cars, you name it.

Good luck!

24. Artists...
in Mexico do some lovely tin work - mirrors and such - if you have an import store near you - even Cost Plus or Pier One may have something.

I got a tin paint can with a substantial check in it for Christmas.(So I can hire someone to help me finish painting my kitchen). Most paint/hardware stores sell new unused cans in various sizes. I've seen them used for a variety of gifts.

Good Luck - and Happy Anniversary!
