Best comedic role for an actress?

I would say Marissa Tomei, in 'My Cousin Vinnie.'

What say you. What's your favorite?:toast:

2. Katharine Hepburn - Adam's Rib
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0041090/

Might not be the best, but this performance should not be forgotten.

3. She was priceless. I love Miss Hepburn. She's a treasure!

I also loved her in Guess Who's Coming to Dinner, and I love the way she played off against John Wayne in Rooster Cogburn.

Spencer Tracy ad libed during it mentioning her Bryn Mawr attitude. Hehe.

I'm currently rewatching all the KH movies I own, in order (yes, I know I'm a geek. LoL).

5. very good choice
I loved Terri Garr in Tootsie, she was fantastic in that movie. I like Sandra Bullock when she does comedy, she is funny too. Cameron Diaz was good in "My Best Friend's wedding". You know, I am realizing as I type this that I don't know what to put, I must not watch too many funny movies.

My favorite is Parker Posey, in both Dazed and Confused, and the Meg Ryan movie she is in where she plays Tom Hanks girlfriend, it might be called 'You've Got Mail".

12. A tidbit about Marisa Tomei...
Edited on Sat Jun-30-07 05:02 AM by bob_weaver
My friend worked for Dreamworks for several years, as a game programmer in the video game division, and saw a continuous parade of celebrities come through theor offices during his time there. He said that Marisa Tomei was there not too long after her Oscar win for "My Cousin Vinny," and that she was a pompous, pretentious primadonna, even in a working situation where there was no point in being that way, because nobody really cared, everyone was just doing their job and were not screaming, doting fans or paparazzi or anything. He thought the way she acted was silly and inappropriate. He also said that Steven Spielberg was very down-to-earth and easy to work with, in his expierence anyway.

16. I think she did deserve her Oscar for that. And she was also good in that one with
Robert Downey Jr, I can't remember the name of that movie, but part of it took place in Italy. I'm just relaying what someone told me about her personality in "real life."

41. Every actress has a story like that about her.
Someone always knows someone who knows that some woman is a primadonna, or a loose woman, or something negative. It might be so, it might not be, but I've quit judging people on things I haven't personally observed or experienced.

Just stating an observation, not coming down on you or questioning your friend. :)

40. There were no bad parts in Moonstruck. Great script.
I think "Crimes of the Heart" had four good comedic roles for women, even if Diane Keaton's southern accent kept going in and out.

"But, Babe! He's fifteen!"
"Oh, he's taller now."

I've always view that movie through the prism of a live action Warner Bros cartoon, with Babs as Bugs Bunny and Ryan as a Porky Pig

Pretty funny when you look at it like that

25. I couldn't pick just one!
Judy Davis and Glynis Johns in The Ref.

Jean Arthur in The Talk of the Town and The More the Merrier.

Katharine Hepburn in Bringing up Baby and The Philadelphia Story.

And I must give a special mention to Natalie Portman and Rosie O'Donnell in Beautiful Girls. They are a hoot, especially O'Donnell. "You guys, as a gender, have to get a grip."

Oh, and everyone in Young Frankenstein.

Hey, Chris Hitchens! Women ARE funny, you ghastly old misanthrope.

Only Curtis could steal a movie from three of the most brilliant comedic talents alive. And that's precisely what she did.

Besides Joan Cusack, I can't recall a more vibrant actress.
