Kelly Clarkson - My December (a bold artistic statement! I love Breakaway, but moving forward instead of doing Breakaway 2 turned out to be a good idea. There are still hooks - mostly rock hooks instead of pop hooks - and the diversity of the material is impressive! The only song that I don't get is "Yeah." I'm not knocking the idea of a rock/funk fusion, but this song doesn't go anywhere. Also, on the rockers, she mostly shows the anguished side of her vocals. But these are no biggies - I give the CD an A!)

Paramore - RIOT! (it's not as samey as the debut, and it effectively mixes an 80s quality with its pop/punk. Also highly recommended.)

Samples from Aly & AJ's upcoming Insomniatic (Now THIS sounds like great bubblegum rock! It doesn't sound as commercial, and their voices also sound less girlish. I plan on buying it.)

Velvet Revolver - Libertad (solid rock, but besides a U2-like departure and a few solos, it doesn't distinguish itself from Stone Temple Pilots stuff, which is often better.)
