More internet dating shit |
|
I swear I hear only from right-wing Republican rednecks or married guys? And how do you respond to someone who admits to being married but "things aren't going so well and we haven't had sex in 2 years" - sort of an email version of the asshole at the bar "My wife just doesn't understand me". Fortunately this person is only in town for a few weeks and if I ignore him he will surely go away eventually.
I am so sick of this crap. I am not a social person so I won't join any clubs. Or rather, I wouldn't want to be part of a club that would have me as a member. LOL. I would go to Drinking Liberally if we had a chapter here but I don't have time to deal with organizing such a thing. I am an atheist so I don't go to church (I don't think I would date churchgoers anyway). I work far too much to even want to go hang out at a bar or someplace. I don't really have many friends (the aforementioned non-social thing). I can't get involved in politics because of my job (as a state worker I am not allowed). So the internet has become the one way I know of to meet people, although I haven't met any actual people in a while and clearly it is a minefield.
I saw a graph in National Geographic once that showed my city has way more single women than men. So I guess I need to more to Austin or Houston where the situation is reversed.

1. Isn't It That You Just Can't Get Involved In Politics During Work Hours |
|
how can they prohibit you from being involved in politics after work hours? The Hatch act doesn't cover that.
As for dating, I dunno, that's a hard one. I don't know how well the internet dating sites work. You are in Texas so the number of right wingers to left is already skewed, and fundies to atheists is pretty much a romp I'd guess there as well.
Austin or Houston would probably be more favorable to liberalism, and Austin more than Houston I'd imagine.
Sounds like a kinda sad situation, but I bet you will meet someone, you seem like a nice person and you are smart, and hey, you play soccer! And you know fish, some guy is gonna go :woohoo: about that! :D

2. I know; I was just ranting |
|
Believe it or not, I have gotten a number of responses from married guys. I guess it is something that they admit it up front. I am just WTF?
I am not one of those people who believes there are only weirdos, perverts and criminals on the internet. Even on the dating sites. That doesn't mean that people haven't had bad experiences, but I think it is just as likely to have a bad experience with someone you meet in a bar or somewhere.
I don't know much about the Hatch Act. I just always assumed it meant off hours as well. Not that I care that much. I don't think I'll be stuffing envelopes for anyone.

5. Rest assured it works the other way too: |
|
What kind of car do you drive (better be a Lexis or better)?
Own or rent?
What do you do for a living (meaning are you a doctor or lawyer)?
Actually the women who say they just got out of jail aren't as bad as you might think. Just gotta keep an eye on the wallet and nice stuff for a while.

6. Sad to say, you sometimes have to specify "No married men" in your profile. |
|
Or "No Republicans". Assuming the jerkwads read the profiles.

8. I think a lot of people don't read them |
|
I might do a little experiment and put something totally outrageous in there just to check.
