Yesterday was the first day without rain in almost 2 months.
I haven't kept track of it, but that's according to people I've asked.

Right now it's actually sunny outside, and I can't wait to get out and about. For the longest time I've felt as if as soon as I stepped out the door I was jumping into deep water- I was a fish swimming, not a man walking in air.

It has affected everybody and everything- water has been dripping from my ceiling vents, and I think that may be spots of mold along the baseboards. Driving through blinding rain has been frightening- I myself can do it, but everybody else is insane. People either forget to turn their running lights on or slow to a dead crawl on the interstates, creating hazards and causing an endless chain of accidents. It's like trying to walk a straight line through a pinball machine, dodging multiple pinballs. Sooner or later something WILL go wrong.

I long to go outside and not break into a sweat. I long to walk outside without an umbrella. I wish to come back home as dry as when I left.

I hope the long dark storm is finally over, if only for a while.

Luck to us all.

The rain isn't stopping, and neither are disaster relief workers statewide.

<snip>

That's because the National Weather Service says July's weather will probably mimic June's by bringing more torrential downpours that threaten to displace families.

The ground is saturated. All of the state's major river basins are at flood stage, according to the state Division of Emergency Management. And swollen creeks and lakes continue to rise with each rainfall.

The National Weather Service's forecast for the rest of the month is gloomy. "July is starting off pretty wet," weather service meteorologist Stacie Hanes said. "We will stay in this pattern with the upper-level low-pressure system over us that's creating a lot of moisture," she said. "It doesn't look like the pattern will switch."
