Have you ever been a "screaming, panicking crowd member" extra in a movie? |
|
Tell us about your experience. Or tell us why you would or wouldn't want to be one.

1. Kick, because no one answered. |
|
No, I have not.
But a friend of mine once showed me his tape of performances by an extra. Worth it just for the narration, "OK, coming up here, right after that woman puts her napkin down... THERE! That was my leg, and you can see part of my face when they cut to her partner -- THERE!"

and my sister's ex was an extra zombie in one of the Night of the LIving Dead movies...
I know that's not what you asked....

5. that sounds like my everyday job! |

Actually, I did get to be an extra in the 1994 Commonwealth Games ceremonies -- we were supposed to put on any white clothing we had (to contrast with the green grass in the overhead shots) and mill around, forming the shape of a dove.
It wasn't too bad, but I felt sorry for a lot of the volunteers who were seniors and were getting tired during the rehearsals, being out there in the hot sun, with a power-mad assistant director yelling at them for being "too slow".

But I am in the crowds for both the Godfathers' video "I'm Lost and then I'm Found" and The Clash's "Rock the Casbah", both of which were filmed in Austin.
Does that count? :P
