So why is it always we musicians that have to save the world?
Live Aid, Live Earth, Farm Aid, No Nukes and so on.
Why do we have to do all the work and you non-musicians just watch and complain about the music you don't like?

:)

1. Activists are always the ones who get things done.
Better'n the people on the hills, anywho.

'Snot the musicians' fault that they're so cool. :D

6. I actually have a really good answer for it
But it is pretty deep. Basically, music is so very personal to everyone and it touches every single person in different ways. When emotions have to be spoken to, the only way that really crosses all borders is music.

That's why I don't really like to trash musicians of any genre, because I know that there are people out there who identify with it and it means something to someone.

When an issue has to be brought up that is important, the only way to really make a majority to take notice is through music. There's more, but that is the basics.

10. And you and I agree.....
because I'm one of you. Music is it's own language...and speaks to people in different ways. I appreciate it all and I would never condemn any musician. Maybe I'm lucky that it all speaks to me. I can appreciate it all.

I guess my questions today were, yes, this is wonderful having the whole world united in this cause...but, where does it lead?

My guess is nowhere. It's entertainment, that's all it is today. And that saddens me.

7. I posed this question to my husband, a bass player.
He says that it's because music touches a part of the human condition that words cannot reach. He says that music is a visceral art form and listeners can feel it as much as those playing the music.

I thought it was a good answer, so I decided to share.

:hi:

8. Yup
Thanks for sharing. It is sort of what I said above.

I asked this op with a bit of a joke, but I know the answer. I just like to mess with the non-musicians. LOL

9. I was typing and watching Live Earth
so I didn't see your post until after I had already responded.

I knew it was a joke and read it to him as such. He has to be serious before he can be funny. After he answered the question, he repeated it to himself, and then started laughing.

He's so entertaining sometimes.
