1. It's a job.
It's not like I'm in love with it or anything.

4. Majorly stressed out
Because I care so much and am faced with being not as knowledgeable as I should be, people who don't care nearly as much as I do, and without what I need to have to do my job. I deeply admire the guy in charge but he is rather demanding and often demeaning.
In a way, I like my job, but I just want to scream.

5. Pretty content
It's a decent wage, the benefits are ok, and my co-workers have taken a liking to me(they nicknamed me the incredible hulk...lol). But my days of busting my rump are more than likely numbered so if something not so physical comes along with better benefits, I'd probably take it.

6. I really envy those people
who are in a job or a business that makes them feel like this is what they were meant to do. I have no idea as to what I was meant to do. And it's not like I haven't tried searching for it.

8. grumbling
so many things have changed quite quickly, they have all been changes that have made the job harder. They have added new responsibilities and not given me the tools to do the new parts of the job. I feel like I've been set up to fail, which brings on the fight in me, but to be honest, I'm so strung out in my personal life that the job stresses just feel like I'm being "punished" for my choices personally.

9. Yes, but teaching is more than a job.
But as I look back on my career, there is a lot I never got to accomplish because of circumstances beyond my control. That part disappoints me.

11. Sad posts.
The advantage of toiling through years of college and an advanced degree is that you generally wind up with work you enjoy because you have more opportunities to choose from.

Of course, not everyone has the opportunity to go to college.

Maybe that's what Kerry meant when he uttered that gaffe about studying hard or ending up in Iraq. ???

12. Dispise it
Edited on Sun Jul-08-07 02:20 PM by socordsx
I chose the wrong subject to study in college it seems. I hate going there(130 mile drive round trip), I hate being there(In a cubical all day long), a lot of my coworkers annoy me (know it all types who think they're better than you) and I sit right outside the bosses office.

I'm always stressed out, I dont get nearly as much sleep as I should, and its turned me into a real miserable bastard. Its slowly killing me, I need to get the hell outta that place!

20. The old rat race...
I'm on it myself. If you break it down per hour, assuming 40 hrs/wk, (never is) its $48/hr. I design control systems for wastewater and water treatment plants. I design, and control the subsequent contracts. Its good work, and when my projects are done, the environment is cleaner. Good work, and important. Stress is innormace, job questions have popped my eyes open suddenly at 3:00 am, never to be fixed, never back to sleep until tomorrow. I sit in the catbird's seat, do not know if I want it.

So making nearly $50/hr, I would love to run off to Europe, take some cooking classes, and open a kick-ass restaurant. That's the dream, but will never (probably) happen. Meanwhile, plug away, heave the line - tote the bale, continue on. I do environmental work, get paid a bunch, and have satisfaction when my projects work. Not bad. The further I go, the more complex it gets. Interesting, cool, stressful, oh well. Will I quit? Probably not. The work is important.

Stay on the rate race, keep running. The wheel keeps turning.

18. It's fine.
I work for a gym daycare. I'm responsible for scheduling shifts, overseeing the daycare workers, preparing weekly payroll and budget reports, being a middleman between staff and management, resolving any conflicts arising with staff and/or club members, and seeing to the general needs of the daycare (supplies, equipment, and so forth). I could work a regular shift in the daycare if I wanted to, but I don't so that I can be free to do coverage as needed, such as if someone calls in sick. I did just hire three more people, though, so we should have sufficient coverage for time off.

Anyway, as long as I've got my bases covered, I can work when it's convenient for me, and I can do nearly all of the paperwork at home.

25. I was exceedingly
happy with my job until a couple months ago when I got a new boss. Evil boss I should call her. I'm looking for a job to post out of my department. I don't get paid enough to take that kind of grief. In particular from one who does not know what she' doing.

26. I absolutely hate it.
I spend most of the night watching the clock, counting down the minutes until it's time to go.

I get decent pay and have benefits, but that's the only plus at my job. Everything else about it sucks.

I'm considering moving to a bigger city, but I'm afraid I won't get as good of a paying job as I have now, plus I may not get a job with as good of benefits either. I don't know what I'm going to do. All I know is that if I do stay at my current job, I'm going to have a nervous breakdown.

30. Sometimes I feel trapped by a narrow skill set and a good salary.
But most of the time I'm OK with my job. There are always things I'd like to change about it, but I'm sure that's true of most people's jobs.

31. I'm happy
There are better days and worse days - but I like pretty much all of the people I work with, I'm presented with a dash of an intellectual challenge...I would move for a better position, but for the moment I don't think that there is one which is going to leap out at me.

32. I guess "other." I'm in the field/career I was born to do...
as for this specific job, I would rate it somewhere between "Happy" and "contented." I love my job, but I'd go to another in the same field if it was more attractive.

35. Even though our Corporate office and their bullshit sucks...
at least they're in the Midwest and we're in California so we don't have to see them every day (although they are the biggest micro managers from afar I've ever seen). However, on a day-to-day basis, I LOVE my job and the people I work with. :-)
