Rental Car Advice --- Ever Rented a Prius?
I am traveling to San Jose, CA on August 1 on business. I will be renting a car on my personal credit card, but will be submitting the receipt for reimbursement. I will not get reimbursed for convertibles, or any other "premium" rental. What class is the Prius in? How much extra will it cost? It is frustratingly difficult to find this information on the internet and thought I would ask all of you.

1. I have no idea, my dear javadu...
But I wanted to kick your thread up where someone who does know might see it...

The Prius is a very good car.....my husband drives one...

You might have to call a Toyota dealer where they rent these, and ask them...

Our Toyota dealer does...

Good luck!

2. Thanks, CA Peggy!! I Found Some Info.
I did a little more due diligence and found this site:

http://www.evrental.com/index.php

It will be a little more expensive than the "economy," class, but still low enough that I think I can get the "company" to spring for one. However, I will take your advice and check with the dealership tomorrow.

Take care.

4. You're welcome!
Glad you found more info....

I hope the dealer can help too...

Our Toyota dealer has a rental car agency embedded in the place, that rents only Toyotas!

You take care too, and enjoy the Prius!

3. I rented a Prius at the San Jose airport last summer
through Fox Rent-A-Car. The rates really were somewhere in the mid-range of all cars they had available, although it appears the rates have increased slightly from last year. I'm guessing demand has increased along with the rise in gas prices. They're still considerably cheaper to rent than a large SUV or convertible. Here's a link which should give you the info you need...

5. Thanks, BullWinkle
The link you gave me is the same company as the link i posted above. It looks like it will be approximately $50 for a hybrid civic and $60 for prius.
