1. I had planned a picnic on the 4th, but delayed it until Saturday because of the heat |
|
and it was perfect weather on this side of the hills yesterday. That worked out well, don't you think?
p.s. I hate wine headaches. I seem to get them only when my allergies are acting up.

I worked, mostly. I am kind of emotionally hung-over from reading "A Deadly Game" by Catherine Crier, about Scott Peterson. That guy lied like most people breathe, and there were signs that Laci should have picked up on, but she didn't. It was really, overwhelmingly sad to read about. Probably not what you wanted to hear, but that's what I spent all weekend doing except for working and sleeping.

I live in the SF Bay Area and the Laci Peterson case touched us all immensely. This guy is such a pathological liar and his family certainly helped in making him this way. They are in complete denial - or worse, acceptance of what he has done. I am not in favor of the death penalty - I think for Peterson - being incarcerated for the rest of his life is true punishment for this spoiled brat. True crime books - if written well - are books that I like to curl up with at times. Guess I enjoy exploring and thinking about the human psyche. Sounds like you gave yourself a good weekend. Hope your week goes well!

8. Boo on you malta blue . . . |

my daughter and i stopped for a nice dinner (hence, the wine) and i ordered a completely veggie dish. i must admit that her fish resting beautifully on a bed or risotto looked delish - but i held myself back.

11. I did it for a while, it's just that I am allergic to mushrooms |

12. that definitely sucks . . . |
|
i'm not totally vegan - still have dairy. i just order whatever is on the menu that doesn't contain a meat substance. don't know if i will ever lose the longing for meat - but whenever my mind starts to consider ordering a meat dish, i start to think again of the cruelty involved and the fact of how much grain tonnage is involved in supporting the meat industry.

13. I worked on a project in Chile once and the cooks were so |
|
bad, and the portions were so small that even the vegan folk turned to meat when it was available. Only one person held out and she ended up in the hospital by the end of the project.
I could probably eliminate certain things slowly, but all the "meat substitutes" will kill me.
