Figures - I find a great radio station and it's owned by Clear Channel
http://www.radio1045.com/main.html

They just changed the format on this station and have been playing a ton of great alternative & classic rock with very little talk or DJ.

I decided to look it up online and found out that Clear Channel owns the station.

Oh well - I'll stick with WXPN

1. Once you go to satellite, you'll never go back.
I went without it one day, and realized what a dismal state terrestrial radio is in.

2. My 'satellite' is usually my Sony Netman with 8000+ songs
I get in the mood to hear something specific and I know I'll find it on my player

3. Sorta
WRFF is owned by AMFM Radio Licenses, l.l.C., of which Clear Channel is the parent company.

5. I would
The company that bought KPIG a few years ago, Mapleton Communications, isn't exactly known for a non-asshole business model, either, but it's left the Pig relatively unfettered.

Anyway, WTF? Damned near everything's corporate these days. If you're gonna boycott stuff based on who owns it, you're liable to wind up living in a cave.

I say fuck owners. Focus on products.

6. But the thing is - there is a good non-corporate option in Philadelphia
WXPN is public radio but sometimes they play stuff too obscure and not enough of my favorite alternative music sounds

7. Well... your call
Me, I'd listen to the stuff I like best.

But then, I have no principles.

8. We DJ's sort of hate the new-style "no DJ" radio stations.
:D

I never listen to the radio anymore.

9. Public radio for me most of the time (MPR or WPR)
But my favorite rock station (93X, KXXR)is owned by Capital Cities/Disney, not CC. There is even a better one in Madison, WI (WJJO) which is owned by a regional company.

If I do end up having to jump the boarder for my fiancee, it will be XM then to get the MLB package (Twins games in Brewer country).

10. Must be a new acquisition.
They're experts at homogenizing radio, and will make it suck soon enough.

11. If it's good music and not much talk or DJ, then what is the problem?
I thought the whole problem with Clear Channel was supposed to be that it sucks. If the programming is good, then isn't the problem gone?
