I haven't heard moaning like that since the audience at the last Kevin Costner film.

Years ago. Pretty much it was realy boring. You just sat around on a set all day and waited for something to happen. I was an extra on Howard the Duck (I kid you not). This was the best one since it was a Lucas Film and he treated everyone really well. That one was kind of fun and the food was awesome. But the rest of them were pretty uneventful and boring.

It didn't pay much and the hours were really long and unpredictable. Had to be on the set by 6am and would not leave until 8pm sometimes. A real hurry up and wait kind of thing.
I did it for the experience because I thought I was interested in filmwork at the time. Turned out I wasn't that interested afterall. I don't remember how much it paid. It wasn't much but I think there are unions now for extras that proably guarrantee some reasonable salary.

I couldn't believe how much money I was paid to just hang out and do nothing all day long.

very easy work (porn takes more preparation) always 175-200 dollars for no more than a couple of hours work. And the best part? You get paid for doing "the wrong thing"

big UN assembly scene. It was great. It was unpaid, but we got to have catered lunch and breakfast and we filmed in the UN.

10. I've been an extra once and my Mom has about 6 times. |

Be prepared for a long, boring day of mainly waiting around. Bring a book. You might make some new friends among the other extras. And you might even get a chance to meet a star, or at least see one up close. But it's really pretty boring, it's mostly just waiting around, and being in the same scene over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again.
