Build your perfect pizza.
For me, it would be cheeseless, but with xtra sauce.
Spinach
Pineapple
Artichoke hearts
Mushrooms
Green pepper
Onion (red)
Faux pepperoni
Tofurkey Italian sausage

I admit that I'd like to have some kind of cheese, but I have yet to find a vegan alternative that doesn't taste nor have the consistency of a Goodyear steel belted radial.

I know, I know. Here in DU, it's a sin to eat pizza from a chain, but they make this model and I absolutely love it:

Grilled chicken
Mushrooms
Onions
Fresh tomato chunks
Banana peppers

on a thin, crispy crust. I could easily eat three pieces in one meal, but I try not to. Watching calories and all...

Nice bubbly, buttery crust, lots of mozzarella, caramelized onions, roasted red peppers and portabella mushrooms, and hot sausage.

NO RED SAUCE! It's salty and sweet and lovely. In fact, I think it might be good with a touch of goat cheese, now that I think on it.

19. is there a vegan version of that dry product kraft puts out and tries to call parmesan?
it wouldn't be the yummy melted mozzarella type cheese, but at least something resembling that fake dry cheese.

Otherwise all those goodies on a good crust sound yummy - with or without red sauce. Except the pineapple, of course.:puke: that is just sick and wrong to put on pizza.

I've thrown it on pizza with good results before. Lately I'm liking Parma! which is much less cheese-like (it's some raw food thing maid of ground walnuts, nutritional yeast and sea salt) but pretty tasty in it's own way.

27. Here's my favorite!
Roasted garlic
grilled chicken
Mozzarella cheese
mild onions
Italian parsley
white wine and garlic-shallot butter sauce.

If this sounds good to you, you can get one at California Pizza Kitchen, it's their Roasted Garlic Chicken pizza. It's also available in thin, crispy crust and thicker chewy crust frozen versions (I found the thicker crust version at Target of all places).

Okay, sorry, I don't know what came over me there. Must have been channeling my dad's wife.

I love the artichoke hearts, garlic, pesto, sundrieds, and (strangely enough) anise seed. Another favorite combo: shaved zucchini, rosemary, and pine nuts, but that one works best with an olive oil/roasted garlic puree base.

If all else fails, there's always vegan CARRYOUT!

You can keep the pineapple, green pepper and fake meat on *your* half. Yuck.

51. let me tell about the shrimp pizza
I made it last week. I used one of those crusts from the store, but it was thin, "Mama Maria's" or something, it was just right. I put a layer of ricotta cheese on, then a layer of spinach leaves (from the yard, so exciting!) then I put a lot of thin tomato slices all over the spinach, then I put pieces of shrimp I'd just cooked in garlic with some olive oil, then I put the mozzarella, then I baked it. It was like Pizza I Will Never Forget :loveya: :loveya: I'm making it again this weekend, I have to take a picture this time I love it so much.

y'all will not be sorry if you make it-
first ricotta
then spinach leaves
then tomato slices
then cooked shrimp
then mozzarella

56. The ingredients vary but the crust MUST be super thin and really good quality.
If I'm making it at home I use these wonderful house-made whole wheat large, thin pitas from from a local Middle East restaurant/bakery. I put the oven on 450, then I usually add olive oil, thin slices of tomato, olive tapenade, fresh basil, goat cheese, asparagus, and good parmesan. I heat the pita pizza on the center rack (no pan) for about 5-6 minutes, until the cheese melts. When it comes out, I put some fresh arugula on top to wilt and cut it into slices. YUM! It's one of my favorite dinners and it takes about 15 minutes total.

If I'm ordering it depends on the place. Different pizza places have different versions that they do well. I'm lucky to have several wonderful mom and pop places hearby.

"I admit that I'd like to have some kind of cheese, but I have yet to find a vegan alternative that doesn't taste nor have the consistency of a Goodyear steel belted radial." And that, my friend, is why I could never be vegan. I could never give up good cheese. Ever. I applaud your resolve. :hi:
