I am switching over to DSL from cable modem in 3 weeks

And it's about time - Comcast has been REALLY abysmal as of late. Going to Covad instead of Qwest.

1. A lot of people bash DSL - but I've had DSL for years

and it's super-reliable and fast.

I get 3 megabit bandwidth, and I get it every second of every day - unlike cable whose speed fluctuates wildly.

I have had less than one half of downtime since I got DSL. about 10 minutes under Windstream, and 15 minutes under CenturyTel. Both times were fixed with a modem reboot.

Comcast sucks! Their refurbished modems are crap, and the lines are always going down.

3. wow, glad to know that

not that your internet goes down, but that we aren't the only ones. We've had comcast here repeatedly, had the lines checked, new modem etc and yet the service goes down practically every day for hours. They suck so bad.
We've signed up for DSL. I've had enough of this overpriced crap from comcast. Comcast even had the gall to blame Verizon for my problems saying that Verizon was cutting their wires. What jerks.

4. Oh GOD Comcast DSL is the worst

I spend every other night on the phone with them. We have needed TWO service calls as well.
