Ahhhhh...kittens!!
One of my co-workers is fostering 4 kittens, which were found outside our building. They're 3-4 weeks old, so she's bottle feeding them, which means she had to bring them to work today. OH. MY. GOD. Cutest kittens EVER.

I know I'm breaking a DU rule by not posting pictures, but I won't have any until later tonight, at which point I promise to post them.

But here's the thing. I have 2 cats and a roommate who puts up with them, but doesn't necessarily like them. Alas, I have fallen in love with one of them...a gray and white girl. So I kinda jokingly asked the roomie if she'd consider a 3rd and much to my surprise, she said she'd think about it! She has even asked to see pictures!

Now I'm getting my hopes up, whereas earlier today I was squeeing, but not seriously thinking it was a possibility. I even have a name picked out, now that she's opened the door...but she has every right to say that she doesn't want me to get the kitten, and I'll definitely honor her choice. So how do I keep from getting my hopes up in the meantime?? Especially when they're currently in the office across the hall, being all cute and cuddly?

Help!

3. I'm hoping the pictures will be enough!
She's far to young to come home for a visit, unfortunately.

She's extraordinarily cute, though. Long-haired, mostly gray...with a white belly, white feet, and a bit of white on the tip of her tail. *dies*

11. Uhhh...
Oh my God, I don't remember! I think it's gray though...or maybe that was her sister... Gah! My co-worker just left, and took them with her, so I can't even check. ;)

The co-worker with the camera is leaving in about 10 minutes, at which point she has to travel from downtown LA to Santa Clarita. THEN she'll upload the pics and email them to me, so...2 hours or so?

2. Fuggedaboudit ... When it comes to kittens, there's no moderation.
Cutest.Things.Evah!!

Please don't tell my relatives, but I'm going to meet a new baby relative for the first time soon and I am WAY more excited to meet the new kittens in the family. I'm not a baby hater, either, I've got two beautiful, wonderful human kids of my own. But kittens put me into a heart-palpatations-chest-squeezing other world ... :loveya: :loveya:

I hope the kitten thing works out for you ... Please post pictures when you get a chance! :hi:

5. This is true.
It's been funny to see how everyone in our office has responded to the kittens today. One of my male co-workers was making fun of me for going and checking on them so often, but I told him he had no idea until he saw them, so I made him come with me. And he practically squealed...couldn't believe how small (they fit into my hand) and cute they are, lol.

They are healthy, thankfully
The mama cat was actually still with them, but she was very feral and refused to be caught. Afraid that the kittens wouldn't be there later, my co-worker and others rescued the kittens and have been bottle feeding them since late last week. They're growing and getting more active by the hour, it seems. They've already been to the vet and were treated for fleas, but otherwise got a clean bill of health.

We'll have to do a FIV test at some point, but for now they look great!

6. Admit it. You have a problem. Get help.
:D

Good luck integrating the new kid with the boys. I'm taking the new addition as a given, you'll note. :)

7. Hahahahah
Hello, my name is Lisa and I can't resist adorable, cuddly kittens.

And really, why would I want to?! ;)

Alas, I don't think the new addition is a given. The roommate really isn't a cat person and I know it's asking a lot...and I'll go with whatever she decides, since she'd have to live with it too. We'll see...

13. We are in the market for a kitty
My sweety Alison's daughter (age 10) has been begging for a kitty for the last year or so. We are leaving for vacation in a few day and won't be back till mid August. If a male kitty is still available pm me and Alison and Blaise will take a look at him

14. Oooh!
Actually, the only ones not already taken are girls. Assuming I get the one I want, there's only one left...she's mostly black, but it looks like she's going to develop tabby stripes and might be more brown than black. They're so young (only 3-4 weeks) that their coloring is still changing a bit. I'll circle her in the pictures when I get them later this evening. :)

I'll definitely tell my co-worker that you're interested. I don't think the cats will be ready to be adopted until mid-August anyway, so don't worry about being gone (I wouldn't be getting mine until after August 10).

I'm not sure what she'd require as far as payment or references, but I'm sure she'd be more than fair. If not free, any cost would just be to recover what she has spent on her care so far. And references, if any, would just be to make sure the cat gets a good home.

15. Alison wants a nuetered male.
That's what she had growing up. If the male becomes available let us know. Paying expenses is no problem. As for references um.. ok, I'll vouch for Ali, and her daughter Blaise. We live in a safe, quiet suburb (Manhattan Beach).

16. Ah, ok
I can understand that...neutered males is what I'm used to as well. Unfortunately, there's only one boy and I think he's spoken for.

I don't think that references would be a big deal, just enough so that she knew you wouldn't sell it to science or something. I've met you and Ali, I'd vouch for ya!

Anyway, if she changes her mind about wanting a boy let me know, and I'll do the same if the boy becomes available.
