today's Daily Howler was hilarious
at least I thought so, although it was also quite sad.

http://www.dailyhowler.com/

This line had me laughing out loud.

"'They quickly achieve at the highest levels!' We’ll try hard to keep this polite."

In other words 'I am searching for a polite way to express just how full of sh*t I think this person is.'

The sad part though is the way hustlers can get rich peddling lies that people want to believe

"Rhee’s narrative is deeply inspiring—and the things that she learned were highly convenient. It was all about the quality of educators, Rhee was quickly able to see. Driven by this helpful insight, Rhee quit the classroom, set up a non-profit, and paid herself big bucks for a decade, as she peddled this load of bull to a generation of hopeful black parents."

1. .
People believe what they like, what appeals to them.

Disappointment teaches discrimination.

2. People are also quite ready to believe
things that fit their world view, a world view partly created by the waves of propaganda that hit their shores every day.

3. Exactly.
World-view and belief are arbitrary. Just look at the 26% who still favor Bush.

4. Not arbitrary, but generational
and self-reinforcing, and people can find groups of supporters for almost any world view.

5. It's interesting to watch members of a thought prison fight against facts.
Just as republicans are fighting the fight against normal bodily needs and function, instead of accepting them and not having to resist them, and as such, fall into desperation.

Some spiritual paths provide techniques to quell the insatiable senses. Others ask you to repress them. As we all know, what you resist, persists. And sometimes explodes.
