I am posting from my dad's computer in Minnesota
I am still a bit jetlagged, and some of the plans have changed due to my uncle's death and subsequent funeral/memorial arrangements.

Anyone know anything about Dodgeville Wisconsin?

2. Thanks
He had lung cancer. One of his friends found him and he had 17 fentanyl patches on him and a note...the pain got to be too much.

No judgment here. He hung on as long as he could stand it.

4. Sounds good.
There is really not any very direct ways to get there from here.

Oh well.

I am enjoying myself here though. I got to see my son's ballgame today!

They won 10-8!

9. Dodgeville
Apparently it is like 50 miles due west of Madison. Readily accessible from the east, not so much from the west.

12. I bet there are lakes and bicyling trails around there.
hmmm, googlemap looks not very lakey. Wow, check satellite on google map, wild fields around town. Looks like Oshkosh is a bit aways (go to Madison and then that far again). BIG very cool airshow there next wk+. July 23 - 29, 2007

Ah, I was hoping you'd be able to post!

All is well here...

I thought you might be a bit jetlagged, sweetie!

I imagine the little one is as well?

Good to hear from you!

14. Nope, the little one is right as rain.
She actually slept on the plane, and in the terminal before we got on the plane (my plane was 45 minutes late - but there was no way of knowing that was going to happen - Sun Country does not own their own gates, so they are at the mercy of Alaska Air, Spirit Air, and another airline whose name escapes me ATM). So we had to wait for a gate to open up, then unload the existing passengers, clean up the plane, then we got to board.

17. Sorry 'bout your uncle, KW.
I've driven through Dodgeville. It's in a pretty area, lots of rolling hills. In fact, I'll be kind of in that area for a retreat next week at Sinsinawa.

I don't know much about Dodgeville, but I've been there. What do ya need to know?

18. Just kind of an idea of what is there
my teen aged son is less than amused that we are going, and perhaps there is something we can do there to pass some time.

24. The main tourist draw is the House on the Rock.
Which may not be interesting to your son. How old is he?

But the scenery in that area really is quite impressive.

20. Wherebouts in Minnesota?
I'm sorry for your loss. It's always difficult, but especially so when you're traveling already and plans get all crazy.

I'm in Madison - though I've only been here about a year. I've not been to Dodgeville. Were you planning on flying or driving?

If I can do anything to help, let me know. If you come to Madtown - you must let me know. I'd love to meet you!

We are coming from the Twin Cities. Looks like we might head down to LaCrosse and take 90 for a bit until we hit 14/61

32. too bad......
I guess the route depends on where exactly you're starting from. 94 to Tomah/Baraboo ish and then down might work...

I'd ask the boys' dad cause he drives a lot up that way. I think he may even have a jobsite in Dodgeville. I'll ask him tomorrow.

Here's a site you probably have already found. http://www.dodgeville.com/events/index.html

Blue Mounds Park looks good. But face it, KW - nothing much you can do can make a teenage boy very happy. I know - mines nearly 14. YIKES. He's taking the bus back from camp in Bemidji, MN to Madison on Saturday. That's a loooooooooooong trip.
