[RetroLounge]

O That Summer

my sister and I both wound up back in Coos Bay
basket cases, lonely as hell.
She was recovering from drugs, alcohol,
I was a newly divorced, a Sunday School teacher
with no job skills, praying
for a maid job at Best Western.
Lord, how we prayed

walking from one end
of Sunset Beach to the other, barefoot,
freezing in tanktops, cut-offs, hair and make-up
perfect, fingernails glossed with three coats of
Wet n' Wild,
hoping
some good looking single doctor
was walking his dog nearby,
should one of us happen
to cut our foot open on beach glass

be at the beach right now than sitting here are work. :-)

:donut: wonder, where is coos bay? must be up north somewhere. odd, to be freezing in summer, on the beach. and, how these few words can evoke a chill. still, they have hope and, in the end, i think things turn out okay for them. we have a sunset beach on the river. it is a campground. :hi:
