Anyone remember the cheesy early 70s commercial for the Party Ring? |
|
 I'm looking for a copy of it and can't find it on YouTube or anywhere else on the Internet. The commercial came out some time around 1973 and was shown on independent TV stations ("Call before midnight tonight!" "Check, Money Orders, or CODs!"). I saw it many times on WTCG, channel 17 in Atlanta (Ted Turner's TV station that later became TBS), and my friends and I all wanted Party Rings because of it. We never got them, though. Party Rings were el cheapo rings with interchangeable "stones" (read: plastic), and there were some hip young people dancing to hip songs in the commercial (at least they were hip at the time), and they were heavily hyped in the commercial. "Girl, where'd you get that ring?" "It's a Party Ring!" "Sho' is BAD!!!!" (Of course, bad meant good!) Of course, this was in the days before VCRs, so I don't have any recording of it.
A couple of years later, Mood Rings came out and ruined the market for Party Rings...but Party Rings will always have a special cheesy place in my heart. :P
I would greatly appreciate any help you can provide....'cause my sister and I are dying to see that commercial again! :D
