I'm curious about the wisdom of mentioning on an international web site that you may have held a candidate's religious beliefs against her in the hiring process... At least as stated, the post implies discrimination in hiring practices.
My point is only about posting this, not about the hiring decision. :)

6. I have no problem with anyone's religious beliefs. |
|
But those that are willing to use them against the clientele we work with do not belong in my profession. Nobody in my office brought up the subject of religion because it has nothing to do with our jobs. However, the candidate did, and the things she said to all involved in the process led us to the conclusion that she would assist members of one religion and not others.

7. I understood that, knowing you, and I knew what you were saying... |
|
And I'm sure I would have had the same reaction. I was just concerned about the way you stated it, and where you stated it.

3. Do you find yourself getting less tolerant in general? |
|
I tell yah, on another thread it was "dog pile on the Flight Attendant" for insisting some kid shut up, while mom thought little darling's "bubbly personality" was just something everyone else was going to have to live with. Aside, the FA's reaction was over the top, but I found myself thinking, if I were on that plane, I might have CLAPPED.
I am getting intolerant of attitudes, other people's children, taste in music (if I have to listen to it non-stop like in an office)...
Am I just becoming an old curmudgeon here?

4. I'm not an intolerant person at all, but the profession I work in |
|
has absolutely no room for discrimination of any sort. The indications I received in the interview is that the candidate would discriminate based on religious beliefs. I cannot tolerate discrimination in our office---worst-case scenario for discrimination would be loss of Federal monies and jail time. I don't know that she would have wanted to spend time in jail. :P

5. Wish I could be more tolerant these days. |
|
The whole damned planet is getting on my nerves. I was watching a "Comet-end-of-the-world" kind of show, and at the end where they were saying that humans might go extinct with the next strike, before I knew it, I said right out loud: "GOOD, and a fine thing too."
Losing my charitable nature.
