We were both named Joe (well, I'm named Joby, but at work I go by Joe--tmi) So I'd say back "I'm goin' to shoot my old lady, I caught her messin' round with another man." So one night we were at the hotel (he worked security, I was a night auditor), and he was in uniform, leaning on the front counter when I walked in. He said his line, I said mine as I walked past. The couple standing at the counter waiting to check in went white. We had to reassure them that no, I did not have a gun, I had not just shot my wife, and the cop was not about to go Dirty Harry on me in the hotel lobby.
