Need help with a "sweet sixteen" CD playlist
My daughter is turning 16 next week and I'd like to burn a CD for her with some great songs. I know the people here are a great resource for this kind of thing. What songs can you think of?

Thanks!

2. Chuck Berry "Sweet Little 16"
...or Ringo Starr "You're 16, You're Beautiful (and You're Mine)"

Aside from the mildly creepy underage undertones, both fine songs, but a long way from Justin Timbertoes....

5. I've downloaded a bunch of these sweet 16 songs
and after listening to the lyrics, they all seem a little creepy. I guess teenage love was a big theme in the past.

Pop? R&B? Top 20?

Or are you looking for something more sentimental and focused on "sixteen?"

7. She likes all kinds of music
mostly pop and top 40, but will listen to anything. I was looking for something both sentimental and focusing on her "big" birthday.

11. Pink
I'm a huge fan of Pink, despite being considerably older than her normal demographic. :) Maybe "Stupid Girls" by Pink? It's a great song to empower young women and encourage them to be strong and smart, rather than shopaholic bimbos.

Sixteen is a fun, but tough, age. I think it would be great to have songs by cool chicks-- Melissa Ethridge, Joss Stone, Janis Joplin, Carole King, or Sheryl Crow.
