4. ah, if you put that I Can't Believe It's Not Butter stuff on them...
it negates the butter and cream that's in them, doesn't it?

Oh, and ya better leave one for the 90 Pound Hound. He loves bread things.

10. Well, it's probably closer to 30...
but I figure I can cut drive time down by 12 hours, since I'll be motivated by fresh scones, irish coffee, and conversation with you. :D

And I'll have my radar detector. :D

Saw some Przewalski Horses in a pasture along the highway. Ya don't want to miss seeing THOSE.

Then, there is that spread with all those buffalo.

We could have us a time!

edited to add: bring the lad; it's dino-digging season up here and the armature paleontologist are visiting the area

Opps...you didn't ask who wanted one, did you.

OK...May I please....?

Seriously, they sound *so* delicious. Would make a perfect late night starchy, not-too-sweet gut bomb to lull my skinny self to bed.

9. Pass the scone platter to darkstar...
Nothing like just a bit of starch to put the serotonin to work on the brain.

14. LOL, if nobody dies tonight...
sure thing ;)

Scone recipe in the Better Homes cookbook and added some fresh blueberries along with some chopped dried apricots

Oven 400

2 1/2 cup flour
2 tbsp sugar
1/4 tsp salt
1 tbsp baking powder

cut in (with pastry blender or a pair of table knives) 1/3 cup cold butter. Add a 2/3 cups blueberries and 1/3 cup chopped apricots and stir to distribute fruit.

Mix 2 beaten eggs with 3/4 cup cream. Pour into dry ingredients and mix. Knead lightly

Divide into 2 parts, patting each into a 6" circle. Cut each circle into 6 wedges, place on baking sheet. Brush with a bit of cream and sprinkle lightly with a bit of sugar. Bake about 10-12 minutes.

Next time, I think I will add just a touch of nutmeg.
