Is Kucinich a serious Congressman? |
|
There was a thread in, I think, GD, which asks if he is a serious candidate.
Considering that he voted against the Democrats today, and at other critical times in recent history, my question goes to his roll as a Congressperson.

14. He's for immediate withdrawal so he votes against any plan which delays that. |
|
I don't know what he'd do if his vote would actually decide the issue, but that's his reasoning.

It'd be a mistake, but you could.

it was the 120 day timeline to begin a troop withdrawal from Iraq.
Kucinich voted No with all but 4 Republicans.

8. He wanted more, they wanted less |
|
He voted against a watered down piece of legislation because he wanted more.
Much like we do here.

11. And just how does his no vote get that? |
|
Edited on Fri Jul-13-07 08:10 AM by ashling
I understand principle. I applaud principle. But in politics, the principle of getting the most that you can reasonably get under the circumstances is the bottom line.
His standing on principle doesn't get us any closer to getting the troops home. He would rather take the "principled" vote than to take the practical course toward getting the most that we can.
Should we bring the troops home sooner?
Certainly. Today is not soon enough for me.
Is that going to happen?
Not likely.

10. I like how he votes, congressman yes |
|
think he'd do better in ohio (which is swing vote) than in other swing vote states (fl, ia, NM for eg.). I tend to think that red neck middle america (outside the midwest) may have a problem with him for various reasons. Other candidates may have votes that suck, but may be more electable and socially acceptable to red neck middle america and swing vote states. I like his voice tho' .
