Back from the interview! DAMN this process is long
:eyes:

First off, the interview went very well. None of the corporate bush-speak questions, just a nice sit-down.

Of course they have 'tweaked' the position slightly so while it doesn't affect MY qualifications, they have to go through resumes again further delaying things.

:banghead:

He did ask me about my other (potential) offer from earlier this week (not official yet). I told him working for him was my first choice (and told him why). Obviously timing is an issue which he understood.

So, I was blunt. I said I didn't want to accept the other position if I was still a candidate for this one but a paycheck was the ultimate decision-maker (obviously). I asked him to be honest and sort of give me his 'gut' thoughts at this point in the process.

He thought for a minute and said, "If you get another offer next week, you make sure to call me first."

hhhhhmmmmmmm

The recruiter I went through thought this was a good idea. I hope so but at least:

1) I had another interview earlier this week
2) Told this guy about it and immediately got in for a face to face
3) He was blunt with me and told me this is the corporate way of interviewing (which I knew)
4) Told me when asked to make sure to call him first before accepting any other offer

So, I sit. And wait.

thanks for the candles and vibes all!

3. Alrighty then. I'll keep the vibe-machine fired up
but you know how it gets Martin all excited, so you might want to get a pack of those extra-strength condoms for him.

9. Not even with 19-month-old kids?
In that case, you need to interview with a different firm. This one sucks.

8. Sounds like a cool interviewer
You both want to benefit, and he realizes that.

I like the ones who deal with you honestly like adults, instead of BS game-playing.

12. If matcom's as smart as I think he is,. he probably didn't walk into the interview
and introduce himself like, "Hi! I'm matcom from DU! How there aren't any nekkid Kelly Brook posters in here?" :P

13. I can't see how it's ever bad to let the employer you're interviewing with know that you are in play
for other jobs, as long as you don't seem too coy or jerky/assholish about it. It seems like the smart move, letting them know you may have other offers. When I came to town to interview for my current job, I also interviewed with the chief competitor to my current group, having friends in both places at the time, and both groups knew. In fact, at least once during the week of interviews I ran into the competitor while interviewing with their competition (there is the considerable overlap of our work sites, where we compete for business). A bit awkward, but no one took it the wrong way.
