Anyone for tea?

We have hot fresh scones just out of the oven, clotted cream, strawberry jam, and good English tea.

Nummy! :9

4. It tastes lovely too
I'd been reading a book earlier that was going on about a "cream tea" in detail, and my mouth was just watering, so I figured I'd make some for myself. Those scones are just to die for. They turned out just perfect. *drool*

9. How elegant! But, what is "clotted cream"?
Is it like sour cream? Do you make it or buy it already made? Thanks!

:hi:

11. Well you can either make it yourself or buy it
but the really good stuff is hard to find around here. So I make my own out of heavy cream, a bit of sugar and vanilla, and some whipped mascarpone cheese.

34. It has the texture of sour cream, but it's not sour.
In other words, manna from heaven.

12. Ah, TEA! How lovely. How veddy civilized.
I only had 'tea' once.
It was at an inn in the Irish countryside, outside of Dublin.
Most enjoyable.

13. This was our first time too
I'd been tortured by descriptions of it all day in a book that I was reading, so I decided to make it myself. :)

18. Ah. Here we are:
In the United Kingdom and some other Commonwealth Realms, elevenses is a snack that is similar to afternoon tea, but eaten in the morning.<1> It is generally less savoury than brunch, and might consist of some cake or biscuits with a cup of tea or coffee. The name refers to the time of day that it is taken: around 11 am. The word "elevenses" is seen as a little old fashioned.<1>

In this case biscuits are (of course) not the round flour things your mama made. They're 'cookies'.
