My cousin finally came out to all the family.
(We've been waiting FOREVER!!!). She talked to me tonight from her brother's retirement party (drunk as a skunk she was (is)). She sounded so happy I have been grinning from ear to ear ever since. Yay Kate! I love you too! :applause:

3. We have known and accepted and loved her the whole while
but it was uncomfortable for her, not us. She has finally come to terms with who she is. Ya know, except for the sexuality issue I think it takes most of us quite a long time ( or a life time) to do that.

5. Rock on - my brother in law came out some time back to his family
and that was a real shocker :) But he is happy now being himself, and I am damn glad for him.

6. It's a shame that any family member has to "come out" at all.
 Shouldn't we all embrace our family, no matter what?

9. damn "straight" we should!

Do you think she will wake tomorrow and have an "OMG! What did I do?" moment. :)

8. i love this -- it's never easy for someone to do that -- even
with loved ones holding their collective breath and turning blue waiting for someone to come out.

10. I love these stories!
And now...Kate knows that her family loves her for who she is. :-)

Coming out to one's family can be so hard (trust me, I've been there). But at the end...oh, is it so liberating.

Congrats to Kate...and congrats to her loving family!

:hi:

14. Hey redwitch!

Aren't you living somewhere near the Catskills? We could meet for coffee if you are.

13. Yay Kate!
When my best friend came out to me and my other friends, we all were like, Duh, no kidding.

He had a good laugh, and it's never been an issue for any of us.

What really pisses me off is he was able to stand up in my wedding, and I can't do the same for him someday.

17. I'm happy for your cousin
It probably a big relief to her that she finally revealed her "secret" and that her family was accepting of it.
