Thank you, New Orleans!!
I'm in New Orleans this weekend for a conference and my one wish was for there to be a thunderstorm while I was here.

Why?

Cuz I'm a Nebraskan currently living in Los Angeles, and I haven't heard thunder in 2 years. Haven't really seen rain since a year ago last MAY.

Well, if you're in New Orleans today, you'll know that my wish was beyond granted! We just had the mother of all rain storms (though it's probably rather common here).

I was eating lunch at the Palace Cafe, enjoying my Shrimp Tchefuncte and Bananas Foster Beignets (OMG, YUM!) when the skies just freakin' opened up. We had to call a cab, because we had walked from our hotel near the convention center. And in the 6 steps from the door to the cab, we got absolutely drenched. I mean, ring-out-your-clothes WET.

If I hadn't needed to get to a meeting, I would have played in it. As it was, my co-workers wondered why in the world I was laughing gleefully while they were complaining about the state of their hair.

Also, I would like to thank New Orleans for lowering the humidity levels and temperature...that was right kind of you. ;)

:hi:

1. It Never rains In Southern California, but NOLA is another story altogether.
Almost a daily happening in the summer there.
Glad you're having a good time.

2. Apparently!
It's been raining off and on all day, but that deluge at lunchtime was truly spectacular. ;)

And the food...oh my GOSH. We had barely finished lunch (and were absolutely full) before we started pondering dinner!

3. You can eat your way from 'overweight' to 'obese' in a week there.
I know.
I'm married to a Cajun.
