Well. I suppose I could use some famous Lounge vibes
Got back from the doctors a minute ago. For what was supposed to be a routine woman's exam, it did not turn out exactly as I'd expected.

First, my blood pressure was high. I blame the 'Moran' who wanted to pass me, and then subsequently slowed down- purposely- in the fast lane, while I was on the way to my appt. grr. But, with it being 170/100 the doctor didn't let me slide this time. Now I have to go to another doc.

The really interesting part came when he poked around on my abdomen, though. Now... I love my OBGYN dearly (I really do... and he's really good), but he just sees too many patients now. It's like a factory... 2 waiting areas, a lab area, over 5 doctors...

OK, I'll get on with the story. As he was poking around, he said "I'm going to order a pelvic ultra sound because I feel something in the uterus." I thought "WTF?!!!" This is the thing -- I had a partial hysterectomy, last year, and he (YES - The VERY same Doctor) removed the bloody thing. So, while lying there, I immediately snapped, "I have no uterus -- I've had a hysterectomy!" He just shook his head, flipped through the pages of my little chart, and mumbled something like, "I know but I felt something."

God damned it. I am in no way prepared for this. Now, I have to go for two different ultra sounds. I already had a C125 test today (initial screening for ovarian cancer). And, I have to get my blood pressure under control.

Part of me knows it's good I didn't postpone this appointment any longer-- and I thank all of you who told me to go. But, the other part of me just wishes I didn't have to know... and didn't have to face it. Whatever it might be.

Sorry this was so long. And sorry if it was TMI.

Now I am worried, I am glad you had the C125 test, and that you didn't put off the appointment any longer.

3. Don't worry
You know what a drama queen I am. I hesitated, and thought about it on my drive home, whether to post this. It's selfish of me, I know. Sorry to worry you. Don't worry. Hey... I'll worry enough for the whole Lounge, I'm sure! ;-)

7. No it isn't selfish, B.S.
I have seen folks on here ask for vibes, repeatedly, for incredibly trivial things. This is your health, and people here care about you. Just for that I'm sending you DOUBLE the amount of vibes, lol. Btw if you are a drama queen then I wish we had more 'drama queens' around here like you, you dramatic person. :eyes:

2. Vibes headed your way. Just take it one step at a time and don't try to think about all the
possible outcomes. It could be nothing, but it's better safe than sorry.

I'm sorry for the stress, and the follow-ups, and the tests, etc.

I hope everything works out and it's good news.

8. Here's some vibes and reassurance
I hate doctors sometimes - a couple of years ago, my doctor was performing a routine physical and when she was palpating my abdomen, she wrinkled her brow and said, "Huh. That's odd."

WHY would a doctor do such a thing?! I had a hysterectomy too, back in '97 because I had cervical cancer so the last thing I want to hear is, "That's odd."

She told me she felt something on my ovary. Brother. So I had to have exams and ultrasounds and ultimately a biopsy but after all was said and done, it turned out to be a benign polyp.

And I'll bet whatever your doc felt is something similar - in other words, nothing. Get the work done, ease your mind and try not to let it affect your blood pressure (I know, easier said than done).

Good vibes coming your way.

16. I have a friend who had what turned out to be a completely benign growth in her
abdomen. But the doctor had her convinced for several days that she had a huge tumor that was at the very least going to cost her uterus and possibly her life. She was so relieved when it turned out to be nothing (well, not *nothing*, it was very large and required surgical removal) but very angry that the doctor had frightened her so.

Good vibes coming your way. Try not to dwell on the worst case scenario if at all possible. It could be a million things, most of which are no big deal.

xo

21. My dear KC2...
Sweetie, I am so glad you went, even though it didn't turn out the way you were hoping...

Your blood pressure is way too high...and it needs to be dealt with before something really bad happens...

Fortunately, there are things that can be done, that will help and not be uncomfortable/dangerous...

With it that high, they will probably put you on a medication right away...

And they will most likely want you to lose weight and get some regular exercise in too...

They will probably want to monitor you for a while, until you're in a safer place...

I know it's scary, but you will get through this!

Major hugs......I'm here for you!

As to what your doctor felt....have the ultrasound, and find out...I sincerely hope it's nothing...

Most likely, that's what it is...

My doctor did the same a long time ago, and I had an ultrasound...It was just a loop of bowel!

Please, take care of yourself, sweetie.....For all of us who love you...:loveya:

Yeah... I know I need to get that taken care of right away. I had an Aunt who didn't control her bp and she died pretty young from a stroke. Thanks for the reminder. And, I'm going next Monday for the two ultra sounds... and a mammogram. sigh.

All those screaming babies, and women about to pop any minute (no offense to pregnant women), and all their worried husbands in the waiting areas? It wasn't as picturesque as one might think! ;-)

Thanks, btw.
