My friends cat swam for apples.

That's just goofy...

1. Oscar, who passed years ago
Edited on Mon Jul-16-07 04:51 PM by Corgigal
did an evil thing to my husband. It was the day of his surgery and he was home post op. Everything went well and I have to give you this detail to understand how evil our pet Oscar was, it was for a vasectomy. He was on valium and told to take it easy that night.

I had to work the night shift and he was on the couch when he heard Oscar at the door. That was back in the days when we allowed our cats out, we don't anymore. Anyhoo, he let Oscar (female cat) in and went back to lie down on the sofa.

Oscar, he thought was more loving then normal and jumped in his lap. He felt something moving, besides the cat and realized she dropped a small live snake on him. He freaked the flip out, jumped up and then had to find the snake that was hiding somewhere in the sofa. When it was all over he called me at work and said, you're cat is trying to kill me. He then took another valium and a painkiller.

Oscar wasn't allowed out again that night. Oscar lived a long, and spiteful towards my husband, fruitful life.

2. LOL! I'd forgotten . . .
I had a cat as a kid who used to drop big brown field mice on my uncles' chest while he was napping. They were dead. Usually. I think. She did this on a regular basis, I'm sure it was out of adoration for my uncle.

3. My cat, as a kitten...
jumped straight into a flushing toilet.

At the apex of her trajectory, she realized that the lid, which was usually closed, was in fact open. She went from graceful leaping feline to "oh shit I'm gonna drown!" spread-eagle-ness.

She did half a swirl before scrambling out and fleeing to dry out and lick the wounds on her pride.

A moment later, she moved her tail, and we could see the time.

6. We had a barn cat,
kitten, actually, who was innocently perched on the water bucket getting a drink of water. Our puppy nudged her into the bucket. The kitten shot straight up into the air.

Our current house cat likes to walk up to me, bite my arm, and stalk off.

The same house cat once followed me into the bathroom and jumped into the tub with me. She jumped right out again, screeching. I think she hit all four corners of the room before she found a place to settle and lick herself dry.

Most amazing hunter I've ever seen.

much better whistler...

He also can get a tad bit amorous with me. We have one extremely gorgeous female (spayed) but she drives all the boy kitties wild. They can't help themselves; they're all neutered but she just sets them off. We call her Marilyn.

Anyway, one day Marilyn decided she didn't feel like the ole' neck-bite routine from Ivan, who was just in a frenzy of lust. So he jumped up on the back of my chair and gently bit my neck. I shooed him away, but back he came, determined as ever, until I fell off the chair laughing. Poor guy. Didn't mean to question his masculinity!

14. Our grandkitty likes to get in the shower and sit there while the shower is running.
He began doing that when he was a kitten and my daughter would take him in there with her.

He's done some other things that scare me. One day I opened the oven door to get the food out and he tried to leap into the oven. I caught him in mid-air. He's tried that a couple times now, always when I least expect it. Maybe he wants to give Grandma a heart attack?

When I was a kid, one of my cats used to chase a particular dog that came onto our property. If she was off our property she wouldn't but if he stepped into our yard..well lookout! She looked so funny running on her hind feet slapping him on his rump. The dog..a dalmation who had treed her in another yard before it all began, used to venture into our yard quite often. I'll never forget the day she waited up in the tree in our front yard, having spotted him in the field across the street. As the dog made it to our tree, she jumped on that poor dog's back and rode him ride out of the yard. The dog's owner was a class mate of mine who lived a couple streets away. We were all of maybe 3rd grade. He was hollering at me that I had the meanest cat ever. I told him she was just paying his dog back for having treed her.

18. My 13 yr old cat Duke
who is neutered btw, has recently began to want to have sex with my leg that is under the covers. I have never seen him do this before. I thought perhaps it was a dominance thing like with dogs. But when I moved my leg, he finished the deed on the rolled up sleeping bag at the end of my bed.

I'm wondering if perhaps, the arrival of the Maya (the first female cat he's encountered) has anything to do with this? She is a kitten also fixed.

Just weird it is.

However, he took it to extremes. He caught it one day, and proceeded to shred it so badly it had to be amputated. He spent his last few years looking like a Manx, but it didn't seem to bother him. He was probably glad to be rid of the nuisance.

His elevator didn't reach the top floor. Not by a long shot.

27. Bizarrely sweet-my cat led my elderly, blind dog around the house
When I brought Miranda (the cat) home, I had my old dog Rosie still. Rosie decided the kitty was her baby, and took care of her. As Rosie got old, she got cataracts and couldn't see very well. Miranda would lead her around the house and jump in front of her if she was about to hit her head on something. It was so sweet.

Now, Miranda is about 11 and I have Katie, who is 9. They get along pretty well.

My cat Abbie used to catch all the flying bugs in my bedroom.
Once, when she was elderly, I took her into my bedroom to show her a huge fly but she wouldn't look at it. I figured she was too old to care.
Then I go to bed and sit up reading. Abbie was sitting like a sphinx on the bed, facing me. The fly was buzzing around above us.

Abbie never took her eyes off me, when all of a sudden the fly just dropped onto the bed, Abbie put her paw on it - still looking at me!! Then she ate it.

Why did the fly just drop to the bed next to her paw?? This still freaks me out.

I had seen her just staring at bugs on the wall and they would gradually come down the wall and she would catch them.

63. Mark me as his territory.
I had taken in a feral grey cat that I named Elwood. He was a year or so old, and hadn't been nuetered yet.

We were having a very big love session on my bed, with him on my lap -- lots of ear rubs, tummy action, sweet spot work at the tail base, the works. Suddenly, he turns his back to me and sprays me full in the face and chest.

He went in for his snipping the very next day.

He was completely devoted to me (and vice versa) for 19 glorious years.

65. Ahhhh cat stories.
Stormy, seal point siamese, comes in the house with this crazy look on his face. goes up to my wife. Bzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz, he says, still looking puzzled, opens his mouth and a bee flies out. He also liked to get in the shower. He also loved to chase dogs. He was very scary: he did the best Halloween Cat you ever saw. One time he scared my roommate and his dog so badly that they had to call me away from work to put him in my room so they could get in the house.

My other cat, Sid Vicious put a live possum in my closet. I think it was there for a couple of days before I discovered it. Sid was acting very strangely around the closet and it took a while for me to catch on. Possums are nasty ugly things when cornered. I picked him up w/long barbeque tongs.

Knew of another cat that would jump across the corners of a swimming pool until he "accidentally" fell in and then would swim around.

66. I've got one who, I swear...she tries to bark sometimes.
She loves to play fetch and will follow you around with a toy, dropping it at your feet every time you stop, until you play with her. And if it takes you too long, she makes this bizarre little noise that sounds like a bark. And she doesn't twitch her tail...she wags it. And only when she's happy.

And if she thinks she wants what you're eating, she'll put her paw up and steal the food off your plate. And she loves Doritos. And she likes to get under the running faucet in the bathroom sink.

In retrospect, we should've named her Fido.

67. After our dog died, the cat now growls when someone is at the door
This same cat also sits on command when waiting to be fed, which is something the dog also had to do and it seems like the cat later picked up.
