Help me choose a concert.
There are three concerts that I really want to go to this summer, but we don't have a lot of money to be throwing at concerts. I can justify one concert, so which one should I choose?

Rusted Root, 311, or George Clinton and the Parliament Funkadelic? It's too hard to decide!

1. George Clinton seems like it would be the most fun
Which do you like the best though?

4. That's why it's difficult to choose.
I like that they are all funky, but have no clear favorite. They are all great in their own right.

I did see the Parliament Funkadelic in 1994, but I wasn't as into them then as I am now.

Decisions. Decisions.

I'm not hip to his music

12. Can't be sure really.
With the last name Clinton and the song "Atomic Dog" vs. "The Big Dog" it's all supposition at this point.

We'll find out as Hillary's campaign develops.

3. Clinton will be the most fun
Rusted Root is good too, probably a more intimate show.

I've never cared for 311

8. The Rusted Root show is in a smaller venue.
Not that venue matters. It's all about the show.

311 is a favorite of my husband's for the bass playing alone. I like them enough to see them, though.

15. Ahhh but venue DOES matter
Seeing a show at a small venue, under the right circumstances, can be sublime

I've never seen a "great" show at an arena...

18. I should have clarified.
The venues aren't that staggeringly different in size. It's more of an indoor/outdoor preference, which I don't have one presently.

5. Parliament hands down.....
Edited on Mon Jul-16-07 06:44 PM by CrownPrinceBandar
I have heard alot of good reviews of their shows and that they play long sets.

I remember seeing RR in the early 90's when they were an up-and-coming Pittsburgh band. They were fun then, now they seem kinda pretentious.

I do remember P-Funk doing a long set when I saw them. My husband has never seen them, so I think he would like it.

10. My dear VenusRising!
I cannot help you!

I don't know any of those bands, sweetie...

Now, if it were classical music......Well that's a different story!

Have fun, whichever one you go to, OK?

:woohoo:

20. Having seen all these bands - I would HIGHLY recommend
you opt for George Clinton. I've seen him twice, both in very small venues (a college gym, a bar) and if this is the case, IMHO it is the only option.

Enjoy the show - whichever one you choose.

23. P-Funk, absolutely. You'll get the most for your money.
P-Funk shows are usually pretty long, so you get full value for your entertainment dollar.

I have seen Rusted Root and they are fun to see, but George Clinton beats em hands down, IMO, if you want the serious funk.

29. I've seen all 3
What can I say, over the years I've spent a lot of money on concerts. In general, you will have fun at any of the shows. Here are a couple things to think about:

Venue? Rusted Root seems like an outdoor concert to me, 311 either, and P-Funk should be indoors

Your age? P-Funk will have the most diverse crowd. The other two will be a bit younger. 311 the most young guys of the choices.

Personally, the Parliament Funkadelics is a really good time! Everyone should see them in concert at least once. :)

31. Easy - go see P-Funk. You will not regret it.
They put on a hell of show, and they will play for HOURS on end. Last time I saw them, the show started at 9:00 PM and even at 1:30 AM, the P-Funk machine was still going strong, and showed no signs of letting up! :headbang:

what?? I'd pick that because it'd be my last chance to mark them on my concert list, then 40 years from now I'd brag about it.

I'm gonna look and see if they'll be around here.
