Any gals use evening primrose oil, |
|
for PMS symptoms?
I'm SO bad. On Friday, I started acting like a freaking maniac. My husband can tell exactly when I'm three days out from the monthly visitor, because I start flipping. out.
If you've used it, does it seem to help mood issues? I also have a real problem with physical weakness/ dizziness/near-blacking out around the same time. Might it make a difference in that regard?

1. Supposedly it prevents a hangover if you take it after drinking too much, |
|
but I tried it several times and still had a hangover.

3. no and you should see a doctor about symptoms not ask on DU |

symptoms that severe are in no way normal, you should be receiving medical treatment, not folklore from the internet
do you seriously think dizziness/near black-outs is normal PMS? trust me, it isn't!
on edit, sorry to be so harsh, but your problem really sounds way out of the norm and needs to be looked into, so i hope you do get real help

5. I HAVE asked her, and she suggested the oil. |
|
That's why I'm wondering if anyone's had good results with it.

I don't think it's possible for you NOT to be harsh. I don't think I've ever seen you respond politely to anyone.
She simply asked about the oil. Regular DUers know better than to ask medical questions. Lay off.

I don't have periods anymore :bounce:
but when I did, my Meneire's Disease would seem to kick in a couple of days before. I would start getting the worse dizzy spells for days.

6. yes, you must boil it with 3 stalks of thyme, and a mandrake root |
|
in order to bring out its true power.
this is not internet folklore.

Lara, perhaps you have that PMDD the commercials are talking about so much now.
With so much flux and what not, maybe it's messing with your blood pressure, causing the dizziness and other symptoms. Might be worth asking about at your next dr. visit.
Feel better!

10. I use it for menopausal itching |
|
Seems to help my skin not be so itchy. I also take fish oil twice a day to help my cholesterol, so it piggybacks along with that. Don't know if it helps my mood - I'm generally crabby because I'm bored and living in a place I don't want to be.

11. I know DUers have used it with success. |
|
When I worked at GNC we sold it and women had good things to say about it. Good luck with it.

It's great! I used to swear by it! (Don't need it really anymore, ya know.)
Anyway - I had Less bloating. Fewer cramps. Fewer/lessened moodswings, etc....
Occasionally I'd run out and forget - but boy I always knew when I'd forgotten it.
Some women like dong quai - (i was allergic though).
I've also heard good things about B-complex - especially b-
Black cohosh (I never tried it.) plus some other "women's herbs" - I was pmdd - not even just pms...
Depending on your age - you're probably "premenopausal" (starts 5-15 years before they used to think that it did.). That's when the MOOD SWINGS START, and the whole process just gets worse.
I'd give the EPR a shot. I've never heard of any negative side effects. And it's good for more than just pms. So what have you got to lose?
the dizzy spells? hmmmmmmm....... low blood pressure? Anemia, maybe?
