1. No one would ever want my dog - but a very
dear friend of mine benefitted greatly from therapy dogs during his losing battle with AIDS.

4. Thanks - he had to get rid of his dog once he fell really ill and
really stopped wanting the dog around. He was visted every couple of days by several dogs who spent time with him.

3. That sounds like such a nice thing to do
Dogs are truly great animals, as are the people that CARE for them and LOVE them.

5. Hey jasonc...
the therapy dogs really were amazing. I had considered trying to train my dog for the purpose because she is just so friendly, but she ended up being TOO friendly - would not abandon licking the stranger...:hi:

11. I could see people sharing ownership of a dog, and taking turns caring for it,
but to have to pay that much just to spend time with a dog seems idiotic to me.

10. Had rent-a-dogs rent-a-cats since forever
My boys grew up with a rent-a-dog; a basset named Moon, who would dig himself out ofhis owner's yard to come play with my kids. He was lonely.

We used to have four rent-a-cats that came to visit, until one of them took up permanent residence and kicked the others out.

12. So the animals never get to form long term bonds
Doesn't sound like a good deal for the dogs.
