Thru years of research I have discovered this MUST be the dumbest person ever (LTTE on recycling)

Recycling efforts would be waste of time and money

Mandatory curbside recycling, if it is ever passed, would be a giant step backwards for conserving resources.

Recycling itself is an over hyped, inefficient process that serves more toward making people feel good about themselves than it does about actually helping the environment.

The only way the cost of recycling would be justified is if we were actually running out of resources. Plastics come from petroleum byproducts, so if we have a plastic shortage we actually have a bigger problem -- we've run out of oil.

Paper largely comes from tree farms, not rainforests. Recycling your newspaper is not saving the Amazon.

And glass comes from sand, is there an impending sand shortage that we don't know about? Mandatory curbside recycling would mean it would take twice the amount of trucks to do the same amount of work; that's twice as much pollution, twice as much fuel used, and twice the cost.

Keep recycling voluntary, if only for the sake of our wallets.

2. This line made me laugh for real
"is there an impending sand shortage that we don't know about?"

With the impending dessertification of the planet that made me LOL.

Having said that. Ugh. where to start! There's no place that isn't messed up thinking.

7. the important part to the author
"Keep recycling voluntary, if only for the sake of our wallets."

it always boils down to their wallets. No taxes! Small Government! No Climate Change! etc.

I'm not saying that my own wallet doesn't concern me, because it does, but it's not my #1 primary concern, even when I am broke: it's there, but I still have my morals and ethics.

10. Pensioner?
This strikes me as being written by a retiree living on a fixed income. The real issue may be how to live out your life in the house you bought 40+ years ago.
