I heard a rumor that this year's Moody Blues tour will have some songs they haven't done in a while

They'll be here in 2 weeks (on my birthday) and while I'm disappointed that it's just Justin Hayward, John Lodge and Graeme Edge (Ray Thomas retired a few years back, and they haven't had either Pinder or Moraz on keyboards in some time) the prospect of seeing/hearing "Are You Sitting Comfortably?" done live (I've seen them 9 times and they've never played it on any of those tours) is tempting.

1. They've done Are You Sitting Comfortably a few times
It's awesome. So is Higher and Higher. I go see them any time they are nearby. I wish they would come south.

9. I haven't seen them since the mid-80s
and they never did it when I saw them back then.

They have done it recently... I think 2005.

2. Never having seen them live...
Never having seen them live, but listing them as one of my favorite rock bands, I have a question (or three) for you as you've seen them nine times...

How good are they in concert? I figure they'd have to tour with a full symphony for most of their repertoire, is that how they go about it? Most of their stuff seems wild;y unsuitable for anything but the studio-- obviously I'm off base as they do tour, but how well does it hold up on stage?

The last album they released (that I know about) was the other Side of Life (1986, I think?). Is Justin's voice holding up through the years?

10. only once have I seen them w/ an orchestra
If you check out some of the stuff on YouTube, the footage from the 2005 tour, Justin's voice sounds pretty good to me.

Also, it doesn't appear that they had an orchestra on that tour, but I think the 2 synth players find a way to make everything work (Justin even performs "Forever Autumn" and although it's not quite studio quality, I think it sounds good. Besides, if I wanted studio quality, I'd save myself the money, stay home and play the mp3s.)

The put out a Christmas album a few years back (December, I think it was called).

6. Crap - I just looked at their web-site and they're not coming ANYWHERE near the East Coast
I would have gone to see them. Saw them live in 1968 doing "Days Of Future Passed" at our university.

7. They will, eventually...
They're basically always on tour. If no east coast venues are listed, it just means they haven't finalized that part of the tour yet.

BTW, last year, they called it the "You'll Never Get Rid Of Us" Tour. ;-)
