so... i just picked up this tool CD...

and im amazed at how different they are. i was wondering what you guys think is the best one out there... cause im defenatley getting more next time i go out... i knew they were different in a good way, but im blown away.

by the way, the one i picked up was aenima... if anyone cared...

3. holy crap I didnt give them much thought until I saw them live.

I have seen a bazillion bands of all types in my day and Tool is one of the best live shows EVER. I was in awe. I don't own a Tool CD and could only tell you a few names of songs they do but I would damn sure try to seem them everytime they play in my area. Tickets are hard to get.

5. Aenima is one of the best CD's period.

And they are hands down the best live band on earth.

7. A Perfect Circle

A Perfect Circle is Maynard's (Tool's lead singer) side project. They are also very good but are much more mellow than Tool. They also put on a great live show.

All of the Tool albums are great but I particularly like the 6 song EP, "Opiate". Two of the songs on that CD are live in concert.

On edit: It looks like A Perfect Circle is touring this spring starting in Europe then on to Australia, New Zealand, Japan, then the Wild West of the US. Hopefully they'll make their way east by summer.

8. Tool ROCKS!

Aenima is my favorite of their albums. The first half of Aenima is the 2nd best music to have sex to (after NIN's "Downward Spiral") IMHO. :evilgrin:

But like everyone else said...their albums are all good.

Once you've exhausted all the Tool albums you might want to also consider A Perfect Circle...it's an outside group that Tool's lead singer is a part of.

9. That's really cool

Aenima is a frigging awesome album, and I would easily put it as my 2nd or 3rd favorite album of all time. But, IMHO, Lateralus is the best album they have released and is my personal favorite album of all time. The album just flows, from front to back. It's slightly more positively themed than Aenima, but it really doesn't make too much of a difference because it's Tool and it's good anyways.

Undertow is also a really good album, but I would suggest getting Lateralus first. Undertow has like, my all-time favorite song by Tool (Sober) but when compared to Lateralus I personally don't think it holds a candle. Of course, Undertow is a phenominal album, but I think Lateralus is better

So, basically...buy Lateralus and be happy :)
