I've completely become THAT owner!
Edited on Tue Jul-17-07 07:46 PM by YellowRubberDuckie
My dog was sleeping on the floor and I told her she was better than that....I've lost my mind, haven't I? My dog can sleep on my bed...my dog can get into the chair...But she sleeps on the floor. Why does this bother me?
I've become one of THOSE owners, haven't I?

1. My dog falls asleep wherever we are
Edited on Tue Jul-17-07 08:06 PM by Nikia
In rooms that we spend a lot of time in, we often have a blanket or sleeping bag that he likes to curl up in. He seems to prefer that, although if we have dirty clothes lying around, he prefers that even more.

2. I went to the bathroom, and she was sleeping in the chair.....
I came back and she was on floor. It was weird. I totally acted like that rich girl mom who's daughter was getting her white patent leather shoes dirty. What is wrong with me?!

7. It's an alpha thing.
Dogs will usually assume a "lesser" role in the immediate area of the alpha. In other words, if you're not around, anything is game. When you come back, she'll take to the floor if you sit on the couch.

10. If I'm sitting in the room, she's sitting on my lap, cuddled into my chest.
It only happens when I'm not paying attention or not in the room.

14. That's good to know...
I never thought that before though. She's such a diva. I figured we were her subjects or something. She's spoiled rotten.

15. She might be a diva
and you might be her subjects, but she doesn't see it that way.

Spoiled or not, sounds like you've got a good, sound doggie-woggie.

Jeez...did I just type "doggie-woggie" for real? Ugh.

17. Why do my dogs insist on sitting ON me?
They never sit on the floor. It's either on me, or next to me on the couch.

I think I am probably a pretty shitty dog owner. They're not very well trained.

4. Oh no! not THAT owner
I think I'll have to put you on ignore now. :-P I've been trying to convince my dog that she's above eating out of the garbage can but I can never get her to listen. Dogs, what are you gonna do with 'em?

6. Dogs are weird.
She wants to eat random chips and food on the floor of the elevator. I have to watch her really close or hold her or next thing I know she's crunching on something.

9. Well I suppose chips and crunchie thing are far better than
a big 5 pound DEAD bullfrog that my Max (Pitt/Visla mix) came out of the pond with one day....needless to say it was his prize and I had to chase him before he chewed open the cadaver.....yech...

Or her. Couch sleeping and blueberry facials are on the road to watchdog ruin.

12. The floor is cooler...
My animals go for cool, smooth surfaces in the summer, and warm, fuzzy ones in the winter. :hi:

13. YEah, but she lives under a blanket.
She's always cold. And it's always cold in here. She's for the warm fuzzy ones all the time.
It's just weird. She won't sleep under the blanket in the warm chair(I've turned on the heating pad for a while to warm it up at least twice), but she'll sleep on the floor...well, as long as I'm not in the chair.
