A resident heading to work found Mendez at 4 a.m. at Sunrise Complex in the 100 block of Wallace Road, police said in a news release.
Mendez was dead at the scene. Several witnesses heard a gunshot around midnight and saw Mendez's body in the parking lot, but they did not notify police, police said.

This incident happened in Nashville the other day. HOW IN THE HELL can these people sleep at night? They heard the gunshot, saw the man lying on the ground and then went to bed? They made no effort to help him, didn't even bother calling 911. This man was left in the parking lot for 4 hours until someone decided to call the police. It gives a new meaning to the "neighborhood watch" concept. They watch the crime and that's it.

The news report isn't too detailed but you have to wonder if he could have made it if he had been transported to a hospital right away.
