MAYONNAISE

http://www.foodnetwork.com/food/recipes/recipe/0,1977,FOOD_9936_33458,00.html

2 egg yolks*
2 tablespoons mustard
Dash salt and pepper
Squirt of lemon juice
1 to 1 1/2 cups oil

Put ingredients in blender, and blend slowly, adding oil until you have desired consistency.

*RAW EGG WARNING
Food Network Kitchens suggest caution in consuming raw and lightly-cooked eggs due to the slight risk of Salmonella or other food-borne illness. To reduce this risk, we recommend you use only fresh, properly-refrigerated, clean, grade A or AA eggs with intact shells, and avoid contact between the yolks or whites and the shell.

11. Y'all need to go eat at her restaurant in Savannah
During the lunch rush, it's an all you can eat Southern comfort food buffet. Someone just brought out a new thing of mashed potatoes right in front of me while I was there piling onto my plate (good times for someone 3 months pregnant at the time). The mashed potatoes had a visible layer of melted butter on top.

Come on down y'all...you know you want to...

No really I did so that my wife could see the churning thing she used.

BTW-Paula is now a shill for Smithfield Meat Packing--one of the worst of the worst of companies (just behind Massey energy)

17. Hell yes!
I make my own. I also found a cooked version if I want to use it in a dish I'm going to take somewhere. I'll make my own stuff with raw eggs but I won't serve it to others since I have yet to encounter anyone, even family, who isn't freaked out.

26. No problems here, and just a few hours away.
I had friends that lived in your friendly little, but fast-growing DC suburb.

It's funny, raw or "undercooked" eggs on their own freak me out to no end, but use those same raw eggs in something like fresh mayo or another dish, and I have no problems with them at all.

19. I saw Paula at the NY Food Show last week - and *swoon* the Barefoot Contessa.
Paula was just Paula.

But I was so excited to see Ina Garten -- she reminds me of my mom, but perfect (because we have no issues!).

I was so excited to see her I couldn't even ask for her autograph.
