Dammit, my favorite headphones are shorting out.

My precious eighteen dollar TDK over-the-ear stereo headphones are dying. I HATE that. Even though I have a superb set of Bose cabinet speakers I rarely use them- my apt. is small and I like to crank my tunes in the evening. Besides, I always liked headphones better anyway because they put the music inside my head, where it belongs. They're also great for blocking out external noises.

Perhaps this time I'll seek out some truly great studio monitor 'phones. I've also wondered about a good in-line headphone amp- are they worth it? I can get one at Fry's for about sixty bucks.
