Internet Service Provider question. |
|
Comcast is in the process of putting in cable for internet service in my area. I live in the country and to date I have used dial up because the satellite internet was so expensive, but right now Dishnet has a special with Wild Blue for satellite internet.
Does anybody have any experience with Comcast? Or Wild Blue satellite internet?
I want whichever one is the most reliable and the fastest.

2. I don't know anything about Wild Blue |
|
But I'm leary of satelite internet. We used to have that for the several executives, in their remote vacation homes where cable wasn't available. It was always one problem after another. Service was especially bad when the weather was bad, and that's when you're most likely to be home, indoors, wanting to waste time online.
Comcast is not anyone's favorite cable company as far as I know. I have family and friends in Comcast areas who complain about them quite a bit. But for the most part their service is reliable. Just don't expect much in the way of customer service.
Both are going to be equally fast. It's not a matter how how fast they are, but how much speed you purchase. For example, T-1 speed is 1.544 Mbps regardless of who you buy it from.

4. I have Wildblue I’m happy with it, but |
|
if I had the choice of Comcast or Wilkdblue believe I would pick Comcast. More than likely it don’t cost as much, won’t lose signal in a storm. Im stuck with satellite if I want broadband because of my choice of living on ten acres in the woods. In my opinion it is a small price to pay.

but in my experience, it's still better than dial-up or satellite. I don't have much experience with DSL.

6. Thanks for the replies....... |

I guess I'll wait for the cable to be ready. It shouldn't be too much longer and I'm sooooooooooooo tired of dial up.
