*clings to The Lounge* What a nightmare. Thank goodness it's over. |
|
Three days ago we lost our electric service. Thanks to the help of some dear friends, it was restored this morning. I am still a bit traumatized by the whole ordeal. At the moment I am just profoundly grateful that it's over. We had been preparing ourselves for a potential month without power before we could afford to get it turned back on, so this was just a miracle for us. I'd like to thank Oeditpus Rex for caring enough to call and check on us when we hadn't shown up for a whole day. Even though they aren't DU'ers, I'd also like to express my gratitude to our friends Kim and Lee for riding to our rescue. We are truly lucky to have good friends who were in a position to help. Not all struggling people are that fortunate, so I am intensely grateful for it.
One question: does anyone here know anything about how refrigerators work? Everything else in the house seems to be functioning fine, but the cooling motor for the fridge hasn't "kicked on" yet and I'm concerned about it. Thankfully it's been empty for 2 days, and I sprayed the inside with bleach water after we emptied it out to avoid any nasty smell later on.

I don't know... I haven't had any refrigerator problems other than food going bad if it's been off for a couple days.

If what you say is true... It may be too late for the fridge.
*removes hat* *bows head*
But, the only two things I can think of...
Remote chance #1: The circuit breaker for the outlet feeding the fridge may need to be reset. Remote chance #2: Often those motors have a breaker mounted on the motor itself which needs to be manually reset. IF YOU CHECK THIS UNPLUG THE FRIDGE BEFORE DOING SO!!!!
Otherwise, it's possible that there is an under voltage problem on the line feeding your house. :(
