Do this: Go to the local zoo and ask to borrow one of their badgers for a few days.

I can't believe no one in the lounge has a better idea than that. Maybe you should try in one of the groups, like gardening.

Smoke items, snakes, party poppers and caps are not classified as fireworks in the U.S. They are classified as novelties, or in the case of party poppers and caps, they are classified as toy trick noisemakers. This would be the technicality that you would win the case on.
