Has anyone here gotten a ticket from one of those red light cameras? |
|
Today I went through the light and it turned yellow as I did so. The lights on the camera flashed. I am not sure if it was me they were photographing or even if the lights meant the camera went off. I am not going to worry too much until I get the ticket in the mailbox. I am assuming that would be a few days or a week from now. Does anyone have any experience with it?

1. MrsCoffee got 3 in one week from the same damn camera! |
|
she's got mad skillz.
they'll send you the ticket with a nice color photograph of your car. I fought like mad, but apparently the presumption is that the cameras are never wrong.

2. Well they could be right most of the time |
|
But it depends on the timing. Is the light red when you go through or is it yellow? If it's red, I think it's obvious. It's when the light is actually yellow where the ambiguity begins.
I probably won't fight it if it's me. I just need to pay more attention when the light is yellow I guess.

3. I've been flashed by the cameras many times, |
|
but have only received one actual ticket. I think someone reviews the pictures to ensure the shot was accurate.

5. I guess I will have to wait and see then |

The cameras are big and obvious. And usually I am pretty careful but today I wasn't really paying close attention.

4. Yep. I tried to beat the light like an idiot not realizing there was a camera. |
|
There are two of these in my town and I must say that accident rates, speeding and red light running are WAY down at both intersections which happen to have had very high accident rates.

7. I got one and I deserved it |
|
I'm normally pretty good about not pushing the yellow but that time I did and the light turned red while I was in the intersection.

9. got one many years ago (around 1970) in Germany |
|
I was in the Air Force there. A German police officer showed up one day with a picture of my car - license plate very visible. A picture of a clock in one corner. A graphic showing my excess speed in another corner.
I paid the fine on the spot.
Hard to deny that evidence.

10. I got one -warning if You're in the San Fernando valley |
|
Apparently Metrolink has those cameras up at the every busway crossing and they go off if you don't stop at the limit line this side of the busway.
In my case, there was no one in front of me and I didn't stop until after I crossed the busway at the intersection on the other side.
300 dollars later.........

13. Well I drove back by there and it looks like the camera I thought was nabbing me |
|
Was actually pointed at the opposite lane. I think. I hope. I guess I just will not look forward to getting the mail for a few days.

18. It took 2 months for my friend to get his. Just try to forget about it. There's |
|
not much you can do about it so worrying won't help. Hopefully it was a false alarm.

Got off easy - the car was registered to my dad's name on my mom's car (and mine too, but his name comes first)
All Dad needed to do was submit a driver's license and compare the photos to me on the photo. No dice. Ticket dismissed.
Same thing for the 2nd ticket.
If you ever buy a car and you drive it all the time, register it on someone else's name...
But the title will change next year to all me. *sigh* Car will be paid off.

17. Yes, and I paid it like an idiot... |
|
Out here in the Phoenix area, you don't have to pay if they can't prove you ever received the ticket. If you get a ticket in the mail here, you can throw it away without any problem.
For example, a processor can't just leave it on your doorstep. They have to make sure it's the right person who receives the ticket, or they can lose their job.
I paid a $100 ticket when they photographed me trying to make a yellow light on the way to my girlfriend's house.
