Another Mac question
On a Windows PC, you have utilities like "Disk Cleanup" and "Scan disk" that you run every once in a while to stop the PC to, well, clean up the PC.

Is there a similar function for Macs? Is there anything that I should be running regularly on my Mac for system maintenance?

Thanks

1. No... Mac's auto defrag any files over 20 Megs...
You can do:

Applications >> Utilities >> Disk Utility

Repair disk and Verify Permissions.

I don't think they are needed. Just keep your computer on overnight and CRON will take care of things automagically. Usually runs late at night... CRON fixes you up.

Use Cocktail if you are actually worried.
